Tune in on November 17 at 7:30 PM (ET) for a special chamber music concert celebrating former NEC president & composer Gunther Schuller
We're coming to you LIVE from Boston, Massachusetts, for a special evening of chamber music hosted by the New England Conservatory (NEC) celebrating Gunther Schuller, a visionary composer, conductor, and educator whose influence shaped generations of musicians.
Students and faculty from across the conservatory perform works by, inspired by, and in tribute to Schuller. The program features three of his own compositions: Quartet for Double Basses, the third movement of his Piano Trio, and Sonata for Oboe and Piano, alongside music by Charles Ives, Arnold Schoenberg, Anthony Coleman, and Ethan Iverson (appearing on piano).
This concert is part of the NEC Festival, a week-long celebration of Schuller’s legacy as a composer, conductor, and former NEC president (1967–1977).
