Quatuor Elmire’s New Album, “Beyond the Limits”
Released on Scala Music, this album features works by Beethoven
The Quatuor Elmire has just released their latest double album, Beyond the Limits, on Scala Music. The recording marks the ensemble’s debut for the label.
The album features three of Beethoven’s String Quartets, Op. 59.
In addition to the musical works, the recording includes a spoken reading of Beethoven’s Heiligenstadt Testament, performed by the quartet members, to provide historical context to the period in which the works were composed.
The Elmire Quartet, formed in 2017, is composed of violinists David Petrlík and Yoan Brakha, violist Hortense Fourrier, and cellist Rémi Carlon. The ensemble has received Second Prize at the Geneva International Music Competition along with the Étrillard Foundation Special Prize for Outstanding Artistic Project, and is also a laureate of the Carl Nielsen International Music Competition. The quartet has appeared at major venues including the Philharmonie de Paris, Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Philharmonie Luxembourg, and the Grange au Lac in Évian. The Elmire Quartet is artist-in-residence at the Singer-Polignac Foundation and the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, and is supported by ProQuartet, Spedidam, and the Banque Populaire Foundation.
