Based in Austria, the Thomastik-Infeld string manufacturing company has now introduced its DYNAMO® alternative strings as a newly combined set for violin.

The new DYNAMO® SOLO (NO.DY100S) set now completes Thomastik-Infeld’s DYNAMO® collection for violin.

In addition to the DYNAMO® (NO.DY100S) set, two alternative violin strings — the E- and G-string — in the solo set are now available so players can adjust and experiment with their sound. 

The DYNAMO® SOLO set possesses greater projection, and a more brilliant and colorful sound. Notably, the set’s E-string NO.DY01S is brighter than the E-string NO.DY01 (in the set NO.DY100). 

 

 

For violins with very low action on the E-string, the NO.DY01S E-string will provide a stronger power of sound and a more soloistic character. 

Additionally, the DYNAMO® SOLO’s violin G-string NO.DY04B holds a more varied palette of sound colors, plus is broader in sound than the G-string NO.DY04 (in the set NO.DY100). 

The warmth and powerful sound core of this new G-string supports the set’s overall warmth and maintains a consistency of sound color. This string is recommended for very direct-sounding violins that require more sound colors. 

For these strings, the break-in time is the same for both the DYNAMO® and the DYNAMO® SOLO sets. The DYNAMO® violin string set NO.DY100 is also available in the fractional sizes 1/2 and 3/4.

  • A-String NO.DY02, made with a synthetic core and aluminum winding 
  • D-String NO.DY03A, made with a synthetic core and silver winding 
  • G-String NO.DY04B, made with a synthetic core and silver winding
