The University of Melbourne Conservatorium of Music is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Viola.

The appointee will offer instruction in solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoires, coordinate subjects and courses, and attract high-quality viola students into the BMus, Honours, MMus (Orchestral Performance) and postgraduate research programs.

In addition, the appointee is expected to possess and maintain a distinguished national or international profile as a performer and recording artist and to contribute to practice-led research through performances, recordings, conferences and publications. Finally, the appointee will provide skilled supervision to graduate researchers in string performance and allied areas and contribute to administrative service and leadership in the Conservatorium.

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding professional performance profile as well as a demonstrated ability to train and inspire future performers in solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoires from the 18th through 21st centuries. Strong organizational and collaborative skills are also necessary in order to contribute to excellence in all aspects of the Conservatorium’s strings and performance programs.

Base salary for the role of Lecturer is Level B - $124,656 to $148,023 AUD.
