VC Artist María Dueñas Performs at Nobel Prize Concert
Enjoy this performance of Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra
VC Artist violinist María Dueñas recently performed at the 2025 Nobel Prize Concert with Semyon Bychkov and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Dueñas performed Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Violin Concerto in E minor, composed for his childhood friend and violin virtuoso Ferdinand David.
“To perform in Stockholm for the Nobel Prize laureates is a profound honour,” said Dueñas. “Standing before those who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of knowledge, I am reminded that music, like the Nobel vision, seeks to transcend boundaries, unveil the unseen, and unite us in our common humanity. I am deeply grateful to contribute my voice to this moment of shared inspiration.”
A student of Boris Kuschnir at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, María is a former first and Grand Prix winner at the Leonid Kogan, Georg Philipp Telemann, Zhuhai, and Yankelevitch International Violin Competitions as well as the "Getting to Carnegie" competition. She was awarded first prize and audience prize in the senior division of the Menuhin Competition Richmond 2021. María has also been named one of the 2021-2023 BBC New Generation Artists.
